You’ve missed out on some good movies. As for Pixar, you should at least go see
Inside Out
. It’s absolutely brilliant. I’m convinced, though, that you need to be at least 40 years old and have kids before you can truly appreciate it.

Time to Clockwork Orange you through Road Warrior and some of the other entries, sounds like.

This is pretty much the same as my list.

lol I’ve never seen pulp fiction and every time I tell someone that they go crazy.
Also never seen any Indiana Jones movies (and don’t care to, they sound sort of lame tbh) and I’ve only seen one Star Wars movie but I can’t remember which one. And never seen any Mad Max movies either.
And I’ve only seen the first Jurassic Park, hoping to see Jurassic World soon

I’m having a hard time processing this.
Did you grow up in Outer Mongolia, by any chance?

Spaceballs was great. Rush was decent. Pixar is ok (Toy Story 3 was great). Indiana Jones was decent. Back to the Future was good. Say what you will, but Star Wars is pretty much a must-see. Sure the acting was well... not great and the CGI also not great but it’s still good. I don’t know anything about the rest of them.

Everyone seems to like Inside Out. I guess I’ll go see it. I don’t fill either of your qualifications though.

I think we need to tighten the admission standards around here.
“Have you seen Spaceballs?”
“No”
DENIED!

Inside Out was a TRIP. My 16 year old son liked it, we didn’t take our 4 year old daughter, and I’m kind of glad we didn’t. It was not a movie for little kids. At all. But it was awesome. My wife and I are still talking about it regularly. It was a wonderfully executed conceptual picture.

Clockwork Orange? What’s that?

I tried to go on fathers day and it was sold out! Sucks the girls wanted to see it so bad!

We took our kids, aged 9 and 12. I thought it was a fantastic starting point to talk about emotions, how there can be no joy without sadness, how sadness can be cathartic, and how one should never make a big decision in anger (remember, it was Anger who decided that Riley should run away). Also, that we can never go back to who we were, but who we were makes us who we are, and that change can enrich our lives. I almost lost it twice: once when the new blue/yellow core memory came up, and again when Riley’s new “islands” opened up with her new experiences mixed with her old. Simply brilliant.

Honestly, I have no idea how PS9 can understand half of our referential humor considering this development. Maybe he’s just been smiling and nodding politely? Courtesy laughs?
I’m at a loss ...

Think distopia on acid with big reproductive organs being used to beat you sensless.

I’ll introduce our daughter to it eventually. But probably not for a few years. It was a great conversation starter for my son. I think he saw things I didn’t, and vice versa. I loved it. The wife and I keep picking up on more and more nuances as we talk about it, and I can’t wait to own it to rewatch it.

In addition to being a solid book reinterpreted into movie form by Stanley Kubrick starring Malcolm McDowell, it features a scene in which somebody is reprogrammed/psychically *broken* by being forced to watch and listen to things. Like so:
Therefore, for us to Clockwork Orange you (in reference to that movie) with movies would mean tying you to a chair and keeping your eyes forced open while you watch. Basically. The phrase “a clockwork orange” itself doesn’t mean anything other than “a weird thing that doesn’t make sense”. The phrase, “As queer as a clockwork orange”.

Missing Spaceballs as rejection criteria: it could work. You know, send him on his way with a salute. Nothing but respect, clearly.

We were friends? But you never invited me over for your famous classic Banjo Kazooie gaming marathons fueled by warm toast!
I’m never gonna get to see that Pikachu N64 in person now, damn it... :(

Please tell me you’ve seen Kubrick’s The Shining. And Dr. Strangelove. And Hunt for Red October. Some of my favorites.

I just saw space balls for the first time this year. I’ve yet to see Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump in its entirety, Godfather II, and Schildler’s list to name a few. I'm right there with you not in the movie theater

The only thing on that list you absolutely must watch is the original Star Wars trilogy. It’s one of those movies that not only defined a genre, but revolutionized film-making. They are also just fucking awesome. Great world-building and a very different atmosphere than the prequel trilogy offered.

Son, you need to marathon for a few days.

Get Spaceballs out of the way first. I’m still praying on the Schwartz that there’ll be a second before Mel Brooks passes.

What’s the matter, Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?
What is keeping you? you have some movies to watch.

Rush was good but for non opponauts totally doesn’t belong. In any case get your self to the video store and rent some vhs fast.

1-4 on your list should be required viewing for any human.
5. The Marvel movies are good but if you didn’t want to see them beforehand I don’t watching any others will change your mind.
6. Pixar movies are overrated. The Incredibles is the only one I like.
7. Rush is good. Race scenes are kind of meh.
8. I can never forgive the Fast/Furious franchise for making the acronym FF7 not about Final Fantasy 7.
9. Police Academy is nothing special.
10. WATCH SPACEBALLS!!!

So, PS9 isn’t into movies. Thats fine. This isn’t the movie section, its the oppo section. :P

Oppo is an off-topic forum tangentially related to cars. There aren’t any specifically defined ‘sections’ for content to go here. A post about your struggles with your rusty 240Z is as welcome as a thread full of nothing but gifs.
You will encounter non-car related content occasionally when you browse this forum (frequently sometimes, depending on the time of day and who happens to be posting). If you discover a post that is not to your liking, you are welcome to disengage with it and create one that is.

I was messing with you. You have a serious backlog of movies to finish. Although in my case, I stay away from many films I could list that have won Oscars or other movie awards (Hilary Swank Million Dollar Baby is one exception because Hilary Swank)
